September 20th Artists for Social Healing Potluck Dinner notes
9/20 Artists for Social Healing Meeting notes
• People volunteered for positions that will assist the group in its growth.
• We discussed where we wanted Arts for Social Healing go and what we want it to be.
• Participants said they would be willing to come together to put art out into the world under a particular topic or focus.
• Participants are leaning toward Inter-medium art collaborations
• Suggestion:
o Put young peoples art in places where perceptions of youth are negative; showing young people are viable and productive
o The art would be an advocacy tool
? Location Suggestion
• Municipal Court buildings
• How do we address the term “Social Healing”
• The term sends people down different roads
• Artists want to use Artists for Social Healing as a validation for their work and “community building”
• Should we have a mission statement?
• Lots of networking
• People willing to listen to other artists goals and assist them and or direct them to other groups with a similar focus.
